With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Wanda Joan Thompson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who left us on May 11, 2026 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Daughter of the late Elmer Henry and Evelyn (Claxton) of Picton and daughter-in-law to the late Clifford Thompson and Cora (Leavitt) of Picton. Survived by Husband Neil Thompson of Picton, son Chad Thompson (Tiffany) of Picton, and grandsons Ethan, Nolan and Logan Thompson of Picton.
Wanda was predeceased by her sister Janis Gorsline (Dave and partner Heather) of Belleville. Beloved sister-in-law to the late Keith Thompson (survived by wife Lynn) of Picton, Glenn Thompson (Barb) of Belleville, Linda Slatter (late Ron) of Bloomfield, and Teresa Harvey (Don).
Wanda will be greatly missed by all of her many nieces and nephews. Wanda was a very special woman to the many friends and coworkers she met over the years who will miss her dearly. Wanda will be fondly remembered by the numerous patients she had contact with over her 39 years as a medical secretary in Dr. Irene Kolabinski’s office as well as Dr. French and Dr. Scrivens offices.
She found joy in her 3 grandsons Ethan, Nolan and Logan and all their sports and social interests. Wanda would often be found sitting on the bleachers at a baseball game or on the sidelines cheering on the soccer team! When things got too difficult to get out and about, she would sit at home watching live streams of all the boys games, making sure not to miss a moment! She also loved watching NASCAR and Blue Jays games on tv, a joy she shared with both her son and grandsons!
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Chooback and the staff at Belleville oncology, Dr. Lee and the staff at Sandbanks Medical Centre, Bayshore Health Care (especially nurses Karen and Madi), and Brad Gunn for their compassion and care over the past few years, and the caring staff of Hospice Prince Edward for the tremendous compassion and care for Wanda during her final days.
A cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice Prince Edward or the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation Back the Build.
